I'm sorry, but I am not Asian. I am European, I don't have anything against Asians or my Asian "turk" brothers. Genetically, ethnically, Crimean Tatars are not Asian. It's the Mongols that came in and mixed with some of our people and made a different subgroup within the Crimean's. Learn your history brother. I am not Asian.

To add onto this, the modern Mongolians are not the same as the Medieval/Ancient Mongolians. Different language, different appearance. The modern Mongolian tongue is more Asian, the Ancient/Medieval language was old Turkic, which is why there are words/and variants used in modern language.

I heard on a documentary, not sure about how accurate it is, but this is also a reason that Russian also has Turkish words within it

We Tatars are not Mongols or other peoples :) Ancient Tatars also (otuz Tatar =thirty Tatars) was a big Turkic tribe...The Mongolian history was 95% Turkic not Mongol this is proved Ghengiz Khan was a Tatar Turk this is proved too :)

Turkic speaking peoples are Turks
Mongolic speaking peoples are Mongols... =))

Russians are stupid. They need to convert them to Christianity by force if needed. If they don't, they will see trouble in a century. Most Tatars in USA are Christians, even those that immigrated as muslims, have converted.

Finally, as you said, from the 900's - 1300's the mongols moved into Crimea and made the Nogay Crimean Tatars. All I want to say is that, Crimean Tatars are no tall Asian or mongol. Only about 30% of Crimean's are Nogay. The rest are PURE European and Mediterranean. I have absolutely nothing against my brothers and sisters that are Nogay ;), but, I just want to make it clear that we are not Mongol or Asian. We are European!

Well to make it quite clear there were ancient European peoples who lived in Crimea like the Crimean Neanderthals. And again, this is only my theory and by far, the most accurate model of what actually happened: the Aryan peoples migrated from southern Asia out into Europe and while they passed Crimea they obviously mixed. These became the Tat Crimean's. Then, the Greeks, Romans, and Turks also moved into Crimean and mixed and made the Yali Boylu Crimean Tatars.

I think Crimean Tatars are descendants of Turkicized Slavs, Greeks, Scythians, Cimmerians, and Sarmatians (and maybe some Uralic people).

Crimean tatars are Turks anways. Indifferent if they had kipchaks,huns,khazars,oghus as ancestors because all of them are Turks as well. Plus there is no vital sign of greeks in crimea. Turks inhabit black sea region, ural, volga, caucasia, anatolia, siberia, central asia for thousands of years. Evidences are inscriptions of Turks in these regions that prove this to be undeniably right. They are Turk and they look so. Climatic differences also SLIGHTLY affects looks but doesn't change the fact.

Crimean Tatars are Turks, like their brothers from Tatarstan and the others (Kazakhs, Usbeks, Azeris...).

The warriors in 1100-1300s were not just Mongolians, there were Turks, too! After the wars, the Mongolians split up and the Turks became a new power.

Look the country Mongolia:

It has just 3 million people although its such a big country (1.564.116 km²)!

Look at Tatarstan for example:

It´s a little country (67.847 km²), but it has 4 million people!

Are these people descendants of the Mongols who raided Kievan Rus in the 1100s-1300s? I thought their facial features would look more Asian. But they look like typical (beautiful!) Ukrainians, no?
