This is the worst demonstration I've ever seen. Is this guy a teacher? They
are both making a simple check/adjustment as complicated as you can get.
Detroit should make these jokers pull this Demo. TE

I'm with the other commenter, that if you don't know what your doing. Don't
make a video with mistakes and you dropping tools. Are you really teaching
at a college?

Cylinder 6 has nothing to do with cylinder 3. You adjust the valves when
the companion cylinder is on valve overlap. Companion cylinders are 1&6 2&5
3&4. For example cylinder 6 tdc after the scavenging phase exhaust valve
just closed adjust the valves on cylinder 1. And the injectors, the firing
order is 153624 so when adjust the injectors the same time asthe valves
because the injectors fire on the compression stroke a lil before tdc. And
the wires going to the injectors control the metering of the fuel to the
injector while the camshaft actuates the injector [and the valves to the
smart asses:)].

my ddec 3 60 series detroit won't start. It ran fine until one day it died
and it took along time to start. i had to force fuel into injectors. I had
it sitting for about 2 yrs starting off and on every now and then. I put
new fuel pump on and still would'nt start. Tried to pull start no luck.
what is the problem. It's always been reliable engine

the wires go to the control solenoid on the injector. it controls the
beginning and ending of injection. this type of injector is common on
detroit but later models used what i beleive were called e3 injectors. they
were adjusted much like injectors on a cummins n14. these are as simple as
it gets using the hockey stick as we call it. the cummins injectors arent
bad either, you just lightly tighten the injector plunger a few times,
lightly bottom it out, then back it off 120 degrees.

The injector height is listed in the service manual by serial number and
each height guage is individual by thickness.
