That´s right. In her official web site says ... Svetlana Zakharova was born in Lutsk, in the Ukraine, on 10 June 1979¨. And as all we know in 1979 Ukraine was part of the USSR, the former Soviet Union.

For all the people asking, yes she's from the Ukraine. But I think when she was born it was part of the USSR. I am not 100% sure but I think that is right.

OMG how incredibly talented is this ballerina! Wonderful! She is capable of adopting very different styles according to the character she impersonates and without loosing anything of her athletic skills! She's powerful and graceful beyond belief!

I've been around some ballet dancers (students) at a conservatory for awhile, and they are not catty like they portayed in Black Swan (the movie) - of course, that was for dramatic effect, but I found they are generally supportive of each other. If they do harbor any animosity, I would imagine it is more personal and they'd not lash it out openly. But, everyone is different.

it's "la bayadere", she danced with la scala milano, her partner was roberto bolle. it's a fantastic production, on of my all time favourites!! :)

my god i just LOVE when sveta dances with roberto bolle. to me, they're by far the most beautiful and talented dancers I have ever seen, and I've seen many :D hope they'll dance other ballets together not just giselle, la bayadere and swan lake!

Anna Pavlova was wonderful but I still think Lopatkina has the shape of a swan and feels all with her whole heart.

i desagree...Lopatkina is perfect as well, but none of them (in Swan Lake's therms) can compare to Anna Pavlova.The Swan Lake was made famous by her acts, as well as Giselle and The Nutcracker

She is beautiful and wonderful but not like Lopatkina in Swan Lake. Ulyana Lopatkina has the large shape of a swan and dances more gracefully. Svetlana is still wonderful though.
