I should be doing my 4th static line today but in Oregon the clouds fill
the sky every day!

Jumping off the airplane would be way much simpler than just being below
that wing. Perhaps my 2nd jumps in 2 days, first went excellent

Gorgeous camera position, thanks for posting!

Автор marleynrs8 (3 года)
@bleachloverrr so after the 1st one, you essentially "fake" pulling the
pilot chute the next five times correctly?

Автор tsixclerk (2 года)
There is still risk of chute not opening. There is no skydive with a no
risk of chute not opening. There is still two or three handful of small
things that have to happen just right. Just take one or two of those small
things to cause alot of trouble. Though skydiving might be a little safer
than alot of people might think, it is still like anything else, S%^t
happens.

Daamm how many people fit in that plane !!!??!!O_o

awesome footage

Yeah pretty much sums it up, you also feel a little breathless when the
wind slaps you on the face as you exit the plane

I like the students hanging off the strut, it puts them in a good body
position when they leave the AC, when I made my first static line(1973 or
so) out of a Cessna-182 we had to stand on the step(wheel with a plate like
you guys have) on our left foot and hang the right foot free. We would then
push-off the step/strut and hit a hard arch. Your way is just better.

Автор Raghav Gupta (2 года)
no no, its not a risk...in fact when you open the parachute,..you have to
be in a certain position ......and this thing is mostly for
beginners,...since they are not used to the actual freefaall

Автор jolachgh (2 года)
yeah I love it too ;)

So the only difference between regular skydiving and "static skydiving" is
that with static, you pull the rip cord as soon as you leave the plane -
right? (whereas with regular skydiving you're in free fall for a lot
longer?) I know nothing about skydiving (although I do have a pilot's
license).

I love static jumps! I just wish the place up here in Snohomish, WA had
cameras like this on their planes!! I would so pay for that footage!

Автор BoobsAdmin (2 года)
they will be able to open the parachute itself, if the rope does not work?
Why such a risk?

crazy excited to go this summer!!!!

Автор wolfeman28 (2 года)
Not quite, but close. You don't pull anything on a static jump. There is a
'static' line coming out of your chute bag that is attached to the plane.
When the static line becomes taught, it pulls the chute out of the bag.
Normally a static line jump is pretty instantaneous, only a few seconds of
free fall, but if you get into the more advanced classes, you can actually
free-fall for quite a large amount of time (very long static line = more
free-fall time)

thats an awsome camera position please tell me how did you do it. I am here
in India we use cessna 172 for jumps. Please

Автор 855AZMP (3 года)
@marleynrs8 6 to get solo status which means that you pull your own ripcord
but they all must be done correctly so it may be more for you

Автор marleynrs8 (3 года)
about how many static line jumps does the average student make before they
go to freefall?

Автор sean2015 (2 года)
Sounds like it's safer than regular skydiving because obviously there is no
risk of a malfunctioning rip cord (i.e. even though there's never a 100%
guarantee of a safe landing, at least there's no risk of the chute not
opening at all). Right?

Автор sean2015 (2 года)
But when you static dive, the chute is already open. Right?

Автор tsixclerk (2 года)
The chute still has to be pulled on by the static as you leave the plane
and the canopy has to come out of the container properly. The chute
actually stays packed away until you are just right out the door. Having an
open parachute while either still in the plane or at the door is a very
dangerous situation.

Five of us + pilot when I did my tandem jump. It gets pretty crowded in
there.

That's what I thought when I went into my S/L course. Then we got to the
part after lunch where we learned about the multitude of possible
malfunctions and drilled cutaways, over-and-over, "Look red, reach red,
look silver, pull red, reach silver, pull silver."

Автор dks13827 (2 года)
When I did static line you did 5 GOOD static line jumps. The last 3 you
MUST pull a dummy handle correctly, then you started clear and pull then 5
second delays, etc. Still a decent method, in my opinion.
