That's because there's never been accountability.. Cops have learned that it is okay to abuse their power and engage in criminal behavior because there was never recourse for us to take against such actions as there is today.

Now that every guy and his dog have camera-phones, stuff like this (Examples of brutality or other criminal acts by police) is made public all the time, and is easily proven in court.

Police acted appropriately for the incident. The student was clearly drunk, moved into area he was not to and then touched the mount. He was foolish and got what he asked for.

Was he being a punk and messing around too much? yeah, probably. Did the police tell him to go away? yeah, probably.
Did he do anything to deserve being hit to the ground and then beaten after on the ground? no. Definitely not.
Brutality by definition means using "excessive force" which is illegal for officers to do.
Could they have done less harsh things to get the kid to go away? yes. They didn't. They acted illegally.

Um, the kid was an asss. He danced up to the cops and said, what we don't know. Ansd, in turn the cops could have given him a lwaful order to leave the area. He got what he asked for. He was not just skipping along kids. He walked up to the cops in an area to be cleared. The police acted within their rights. I can't stand for police abusing power, but in this case, the kid got what he asked for.

So your telling me that this dumbass couldn't tell the block was cordoned off, and froze in panic when he saw a horse. Not to mention why was there a camera pointing at that spot , at that moment? Kid got hurt, tragedy. Police took it too far, definitely. But something still doesn't seem right about the whole situation.

This is disgusting. I have 3 generations of cops in my family and i usually side with cops on most things but this is ridiculous. Those cops should be getting some days off for doing what they did. But just an FYI if you see cops in Full Riot Gear...run the other way. Don't be fuckin stupid both sides were at fault but the police took it to the extreme.

Actually it was film on an HD digital camcorder by a film student. The graininess is because it is a crop of the upper quarter of the screen. Anyway it looks like the kid did not realize he was approaching a police cordon until he was there, and was looking for a way out when he was attacked

ive got no axe to grind with the police and you seemed certain that this guy had struck the horse, which in my book would justify an ass-kicking, so i went back and watched this vid frame by frame at least ten times and i cant see even the slightest shadow of an intention to possibly think negative thoughts about the horse let alone actually striking one.

You are wrong on this one. The horse doesn't recoil until the two guys rush around and the shield runs into the horse. You can see the shield fall away as the horse backs off.

If YOU look closely at the footage, you'll see that the guy hardly touches the horse, and it only recoils when the cops rush in to beat the guy, and end up pushing the horse. How are you seeing him "punch the horse"?

If you look closely at the footage, you can see that that dumbass PUNCHES THE HORSE. It recoils in pain, and then the riot cops start beating him for it. I've seen them do it before in other riots. Never f*ck with their horses, man. They're serious about protecting their animals. What kind of cowardly dipshit hurts the horse rather than the cop, anyway? He deserves what he got.

part2. @mram50.. A cop tells me to do harm to myself or something that I feel can harm myself or others I will gladly refuse that order. I am all for obeying police officers when they are in the right. All of my encounters with officers they were professional. I was polite and didn't do anything stupid. However, they did not give me an "order" that was either not within their rights or mine.

mram50 YOUR comment is part right and part cowardly. COPS have no right to come up to someone who does not pose a threat and use FORCE. The reason they do it is because by the time that KID gets JUSTICE it wont really matter. There is not enough PUNISHMENT FOR COPS for this sort of behavior. Just because this was caught on a cell phone camera doesn't mean that kid had the right to stand there ignoring orders of police in riot gear. When you are drunk during a riot the best thing to do is to make yourself as invisible as humanly possible and if a cop tells you to saw your legs off of then take out your toy saw and get busy sawing.

Well, kids..You don't have to like cops and I generally don't myself, but you DO have to move when they order you to move or you suffer the consequences. Right or wrong that's the way it is everywhere on earth.
