Yes I know what you mean. I don't cut the skin though. I use a pumice stone to "shave" the layer of rough skin down so it'll be easier. And it makes the calluses smooth. And smooth calluses are better because the bumpy ones sometimes stop the sound of a string or just get stuck (yes my middle finger got stuck once on a bass strings by the wounded wire. ouch)

lol when my fingers get too callused, i can't do glissandos, but more especially trills, it gets stuck. so i have to cut away the top layer of skin =p

Oh you're right I don't know what I was saying. I think it's just the way he glissandos, with an open hand. I always gliss with a closed hand, so it threw me off.

That actually sounds like a good idea, rotating your hand so you can use your index or middle finger cuz no matter how callused your fingers are from the harp, you can still feel the pressure when you do lots of glissandos. Or glissandi however its said. But yes, if my teacher saw that I dont think she would be very happy with me...

You're right, this is the fastest firedance!! It's amazing though, cuz he has slender long fingers for it so why not. And aren't you supposed to do a glissando going down with your thumb and up with your index finger? That's how I was taught 11 years ago when I first took up the harp.

OMG. That was the fastest I have EVER heard firedance played. What were you playing at??? That was insane. I could probably play it up to 80, but it gets muddy beyond that.

I noticed you gliss down with your thumb, that's very interesting.

I have played Nocturn and Fire Dance...Though not as well as this! I played Nocturn in my grade 7 last week.
