also 386's have a low head clearance leaving the sleeper you will bang your
head on the roof...Kenworth you step up out of the sleeper, the Pete is
ridiculously small and low.

I found this happening in the history of 8 other 386's from 2009 to
2011...all with loss of power and regen not working...

i was recently trying to buy a 386...2011 and with a little research and
history of repairs of many 386's with the isx cummins engine, found that
they have loss of power problems, that cannot be repaired...the one truck I
researched had been in the shop 17 times under warranty in the first 200k
miles and every electronic part replaced and two turbo chargers, the
actuator, the ECM, the wire harness, etc...to no avail...also the regen not
functioning properly and the exhaust temp light on

I love my 2013 Pete! Even if I'm having problems with my radiator fan
staying on, the heater not working, loss of power and MPG... I still rather
my gimped Pete over the other trucks at Central.

I'm a freightshaker kind of guy but I like that. Thats nice. Love the
location of the fridge up off the floor. I'm looking into several salt
water companies that use these in day cab versions. Only thing I don't like
is that bulky ass steering wheel which KW has as well in their newer trucks.

There are many features that make Peterbilt worth more money than any other
truck, but the size of their cab and the storage space are not one of them.
The 386 and the 379/389 are the same truck from the fire wall back. The
difference is the set back axle which provides better turning and the
sloped hood for better visibility, and of course the aerodynamics which
saves you plenty on fuel. As for the Western Star they make a great truck
usually very heavy but a great truck.

So are these really worth the price tag? I never drove a 386 before but I
drove a 379, and it was pretty sub par for the price I was paying (2007). I
ended up with a western star which had twice the leg room and storage, and
rode much nicer and was extremely basic for servicing. I really like these
386 peterbilts though, I want one for my next truck but am weary it's gonna
be nearly as good as my star.

@Bikerkidjoe...I don't know what an "HE" is. The 386 comes with Prestige &
Platinum interiors. @gu151...Save your money or call Prime in Springfield,
MO. They have a lease program with 386's. @santerre....Maybe in Mexico
Kenworth is loved more than Peterbilt....but NOT in the USA! Peterbilt is
King here. Also the spanish spelling of Kenworth is still Kenworth....NOT
Kenthworth! @Blue...Yes the set back axle of the 386 model gives it a
better turning radius than the 379/389

would this be the same interior in the 386 HE?...I have a custom truck
project coming up and I'd love the HE if that's what it'd look like
