commen sence if u cant stop...rather then going into an intersection
1) put it in park
2) turn of engine
3) use e brake and just for the lights push the brake petal
4) and if u still cant stop then go to a curb and rub against it until u stop
keep in mind all automatics (idk about stick shifts tho) have 2 different braking systems

Probably would have been less wrecks if the police officer put his sirens and lights on to get peoples attention and maybe they'd slow down and get out of the trucks way. And perhaps he could have pulled in front of the truck and stopped to try and stop it.

I bet the cop did not realize the guy could not stop until the intersection. When he finally realize what was wrong he did not have enough time to safely put his car in front of the truck to stop it. I am not the most fond of police but what could he have done really? He mighta killed someone if he reacted to fast so it is a damned if you do or don't situation.

You down shift as low as possible while using the handbrake, rub against the curb, if all else fails, slam it into reverse, which will damage the tranny, but you WILL stop.
