I'm Nobel Prize class scientist in physics, so I guess I win the merit war
with you :) You don't know anything about the solidness of aluminium based
on a bad video pic so don't you try to smartass me out. Aluminium melts at
660.4 C and air-propane torch reaches easily that temperature 3 times! Only
tricky point is that AlO has melting point over 2000 C - but as I tried to
tell you Mr. DiplomaWelder, AlO layer is thin and can be scratched. Some
welding metods actually base on that fact. Period.

Nice safety shorts!

Yes, it does work on a soda can but when I get a hole in my Pepsi, I just
chunk it and get another one. These rods are useless for anything else !

its a propane torch and its not welding but soldering

Автор Emil S (3 года)
@marito001 no.

Автор erklaerbaer01 (6 лет)
No its soldering, brazing starts at temperatures above 842°F this soldering
rod melts at 732°F so its still soldering. greetings from Germany

Автор erklaerbaer01 (2 года)
Welding means that you reach the temperature of the base metal and fuse
that together with the welding material. But the filler rod is allready
melting and just sticks to the basemetal. And it's also not brazing because
brazing starts at 900°C

Автор erklaerbaer01 (2 года)
Excuse me I ment the melting point of the base metal. the fillermetal melts
at 320°C So the Aluminium is still solid, thats why it's not welding and
not brazing. Don't try to argue with me I'm a prize winning Tig welding
professional from germany, whats your reputation?

@prokopto lol. good comment

You dont point the flame at the technoweld.

Автор Busyme (3 года)
can it be any kind of aluminum rod?

Автор rake60 (6 лет)
It's actually more like brazing than soldering.

Автор MrZimpauttaja (2 года)
...and continuing with your logic: how dows propane torch prove it can't be
a welding (=melting metal together) process?? Melting point for aluminium
is 640 C and adiabatic flame temperature for a propane torch can reach 1980
Centigradees with air fed oxygen supply (and over 2500 Centigrades with
pure oxygen feed). So it's not impossible in theory at least to weld
aluminium with propane torch. The tricky point of course is the aluminium
oxide. But it's thin and can be scratched...

"reach the temperature of the base metal" ? What bullshit is that? Reach
WHICH temperature? (base metal has always a temperature...remember that :)
When I went school, they taught me that 900 C >> 640 C which is the
temperature when pure aluminium melts.

Finally, i can fix those damn cans xD
